Harbor, Inc. is a private non-profit that began in 1984 with a donated office space and a group of dedicated volunteers, who saw the need to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Johnston County.

Harbor opened our first shelter in 1989. We have grown tremendously over the past 20 years. We have a 14 bed shelter, a transitional home, and many other services to assist victims. We have assisted over 10,000 victims since opening our doors in 1984.

• Harbor assisted 2,700 women and children in 2007
• 289 women and children lived in the Harbor shelter last year
• Children who live in homes where domestic violence is prevalent are much higher risk of repeating the cycle
