Does Harbor need Volunteers?

Yes!

Volunteers are essential to our operation.  We need Volunteers to assist staff with direct client services, such as working with victims in court, at the shelter, providing transportation, etc.  In addition we need volunteers to assist with fund-raising, Pizazz, trainings and other events.  

Volunteer training is held twice a year.  If you would like to attend training or learn more about opportunities select the  EVENTS menu and choose "Become a Volunteer".

 
 
What can I do if I need shelter or other Harbor services?

All Harbor services are free and confidential.  If you need services please call or email us.  We are here to help you. 

Remember, no one deserves to be abused!

 
 
What is the Harbor shelter or Harbor House like?

The shelter is a home that has space for 14 women and children, who are fleeing from abusive homes.  We hope that if you are in an abusive relationship you will consider coming to stay at the Harbor House to seek safety and refuge.

If you decide to stay at the Harbor House, as our guest, we will provide you with; space for you and children, referrals to other agency services, transportation as needed, support groups, support and advocacy for you and your children, and other services to help you become independent and violence free.

Our guests will enjoy a  play area for their children.  Or, if you are single without children, we will do our best to provide you with a room without children.

Our guests will have food and basic supplies  provided for them at no charge.

 
 
What is a restraining order?

A restraining order is a civil order that victims of domestic violence can take out to protect them against their batterer.   With a restraining order the victim can be granted temporary custody of the children and the home.  If you feel you need this kind of relief contact Harbor.
